Illustration Friday ~ Electricity

Then he heard it. The muffled sounds of movement.
It was faint, but he was sure the sound came from somewhere in the room.
When on the table he noticed a orange glow coming from the rim of an overturned coffee cup. Drawn by it's radiance, he slowly approached the gleaming mug.
Then he heard it again. With every stifled thump, it moved a few centimeters closer to the edge of the table.
Oh this was too much!
The desperation of the movement sprung David to action!
With the speed of electric current, he leaped toward the table, blocking the captive's final attempt for freedom. "Gotcha!"
As he loosened his grip, his mind chased the possibilities of the unknown intruder.
What to do...what to do...
He must see his tiny captive!
Trembling with nervous anticipation, he slowly lifted the cup.
The light spilled from beneath, bathing his face with auburn highlights.
In an explosion of color, it burst free of its tiny prison, revealing the most.......

OK, you tell me, what's under the cup? I can hardly wait to hear what you come up with!!

OK, my first thought was a firefly, but I quickly decided it wouldn't throw off that much light. So, since my Disney vacation is fresh in my mind, I'm going with Tinkerbell.

Great work !!

I agree with Nancy, Tinkerbell is a good guess.

I'm going with whatever was in the brief-case in pulp fiction that glowed and everyone argued about but was never revealed...I'm thinking you might have a lawsuit on your hands...

Definitely something magic and friendly. It also has to be little. I love the idea of a fairy or a pixie. Your story adds to the magic of the illustration

Wonderfully dramatic scene and rich illustration. Love your supporting stories. As for what's under the cup, well my softer side sees a fairy with a blazing torch or cute fire fly. My darker side is expecting something far more sinister, but will leave that back in your court! (Hope to see the sequel)

I just hope he's careful because if your sloppy when making a wish it might come true in the most unexpected and not necessarily nicest of ways.
Gulp! ;)
